Teagasc is the national Agriculture and Food Development Authority in Ireland – and this bio-science project, designed by C.J. Falconer & Associates, will see the delivery of a new state of the art building, on the site of Teagasc’s existing campus at Johnstown Castle, Wexford.

The project includes the construction of a new one to two storey largescale laboratory building, and the refurbishment & updating of existing laboratories and offices – all delivered within an integrated operational environment that is efficient and sustainable. Notable architectural details, include a fairfaced-finished cast in-situ GGBS concrete canopy over the main entrance – as well as stone gabion cladding, that along with the framed and staggered fenestration, aesthetically echoes layers of soil types and geographical strata. This creates a new face to the Teagasc Campus – and the new laboratories will facilitate the expansion of Teagasc’s research programmes, which provide evidence-based support to strategic initiatives in areas related to the sustainability of agricultural systems.

The project is also being delivered within the curtilage of a Protected Structure, Johnstown Castle itself.
