New St. Mary’s Central National School – one of five schools delivered in parallel, for which C.J. Falconer & Associates have acted as architects as part of the ABM Design and Build Ltd. Team, under the Department of Education & Skills’ Design and Build Schools Framework 1.

This project included the delivery of a part 2-storey, part single-storey building, 16 no. classroom, primary school – with general purpose hall, support teaching spaces, and ancillary accommodation, with a total floor area of 2,710 m2 – delivered within the curtilage of Muckross Park House, a Protected Structure, accessed off Marlborough Road, Donnybrook, Dublin 4.

The project included the conversion of an existing vacant Montessori building to provide Resource Room; and also included the demolition of an element of UCD Muckross Hall, within the grounds of Muckross.

The works included widening of existing entrance and 2no. new entrances onto Mount Eden Road. The site works to the school grounds include the provision of 132 no. cycle storage spaces, scooter storage, bin store,
external store, ball courts, project gardens, play areas, landscaping and boundary treatment and all other associated site development works. The works to the remainder of the site consist of the provision of 16 no. parking spaces, drop-off and pick-up facilities, all on a site c. 1.19 Hectares located on the Grounds of the Dominican Convent (Protected Structure), Muckross Park, Donnybrook, Dublin. . The remaining site contains grass/green area, with the existing trees and paths largely maintained. Hard standing and formal play areas included 2 ball courts to the south and the courtyard space formed to the north of the school.
