In September, we were also honoured to be awarded a 2017 Irish Council for Social Housing Award in the Homeless Category, for the new Focus Ireland Social Housing Development – Greenmount Close at Harold’s Cross, Dublin, Ireland.
The development completed construction in March of this year (2017), and was Officially Opening in June by Eoghan Murphy (Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government).
It has been almost two decades since the Sisters of Charity decided to so kindly donate the site that Greenmount Close now occupies, to Focus Ireland – for the development of much required social housing, In the face of a number of hurdles, through years of persistence, Focus Ireland, the Design Team, and supporting parties, turned this generous gift of a greenfield site, into a sheltered housing development, with 28 No. apartments and houses.
The development creates a safe neighbourhood of homes for families, the elderly, and less-abled, within the greater Dublin City area. Accommodation includes a mix of 18 no. 1 bed dwellings; 9 no. 2 bed dwellings; and 1 no. 3 bed units – a mixture of apartment and housing units with terrace construction varying in height from 3 storeys to 2 storeys fronting Harold’s Cross Road, and two storey terrace units to the remainder of the site.
